Gisele Bündchen says raising her children with ex-husband Tom Brady across two households is not always smooth. In a new Harper’s Bazaar cover story, the supermodel said her son and daughter sometimes push back on her rules, because they now live in two homes where things are done two different ways, The Boston Globe reported.

Bündchen and Brady share Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11, Fox News reported. The children split their time between the two homes.

Lessons from her own mother

Bündchen told the magazine she sticks with her approach because she feels she owes her children the lessons her own mother taught her. One of them is that the way you keep your room and make your bed reflects the way you will run your life. If children do not learn those habits at home and now, she asked, then when, and from whom?

She said she knows her children are growing up very differently from the way she did, and she wants to give them the skills to manage on their own, Fox News reported. She also credited the values she learned as a child with keeping her safe.

Bündchen also addressed the attention her private life receives. She said she does not let outside opinions shape her, because “what they say about me is none of my business.”

What Brady has said

Brady has described their co-parenting in positive terms. In June 2023, he told Entertainment Tonight that he believed he and the children’s mother had done an excellent job giving their kids a solid base of values, according to Fox News. He added that parents are never a finished product and learn alongside their children.

Both made co-parenting a priority from the start. When they announced on Oct. 28, 2022, that they had finalized their divorce after 13 years of marriage, Brady wrote that their children would remain the center of their world and that the two would keep working together as parents. Bündchen wrote that her priority had always been their children and that they would continue co-parenting, NBC Miami reported.

Brady also has an older son, Jack, from his relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

What happened next

In May 2024, Brady said he regretted how the Netflix special “The Roast of Tom Brady” had affected his children. Speaking on “The Pivot” podcast, he said he enjoyed the jokes aimed at him but would not do it again because of the impact on the people he cares about most, and that the experience would make him a better parent, NBC News reported.

Bündchen’s family has since grown. She and Joaquim Valente welcomed a son in early 2025 and married on Dec. 3, 2025, in a private ceremony at home in Florida, according to reports confirmed by People, TMZ and Page Six, UPI reported. UPI noted that the baby’s name had not been made public.
