On Saturday, during the MSNBC “Alex Witt Reports” broadcast, Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) stated that the hike in the gasoline prices is among those reasons “we need to speed up our program to get out. fossil fuels” and governing the supply of oil to other countries is “another reason why we need to step up our efforts to move away from fossil fuels”.
We Need to Switch From Fossil Fuels to Renewable Fuels: Cardin
Cardin stated, “The challenge, of course, is that we have to switch from fossil fuels to renewable fuels. We have to do it for our economy. We have to do it for our environment. We must do it for our national security and not have these variations in the price of gasoline at the pump. So, for all of these reasons, we need to accelerate our agenda to move away from fossil fuels.
And that brings us to what the Senate is going to deal with when we get back, the balanced budget, the better reconstruction budget that is – a lot of it contains a commitment to the climate agenda.”

Adding further he continued “Well, the price of gasoline, the price of oil depends a lot on the world supply, and that is manipulated for the price by countries that don’t always have the same values as us.
So that’s another reason why we need to step up our efforts to move away from fossil fuels. Now in the United States, we have a pretty decent supply, but the bottom line is that the world market is very much manipulated by the oil-producing states.”
