A French production company has unveiled Johnny Depp’s first photo as the controversial King Louis XV in “Jeanne du Barry,” the historical love story directed by Maiwenn. After his widely publicized defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard, Mr. Depp now has a film role to return to.
On June 1st, a jury in Virginia concluded that Ms. heard’s 2018 opinion piece in The Washington Post, in which she claimed to be the victim of domestic violence, libelously portrayed Mr. Depp. In addition, the jury concluded that Mr. Depp defamed Ms. Heard during the course of his defense.

According to Variety, filming on “Jeanne du Barry” began in Paris in the month of July. Maiwenn is playing the lead role in this production. The snapshot circulating online portrays Mr. Depp in regal robes, an intimidating headgear with white and curling locks. Black cloth over his eyes is a visual representation of the king’s willful blindness to his own corruption.
According to Variety, the film is inspired by the life of Jeanne, a young working-class woman who exploits her intelligence and charm to ascend the social order. Louis XV falls madly in love with the woman he sees and holds on to her despite the fact that he knows it is improper.
