Since the show first began broadcasting, Howard Hamlin has been a pivotal character, and he has consistently been Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler’s source of frustration.

As a result of Howard’s tragic encounter with Lalo Salamanca in the most recent episode of Better Call Saul, the character’s stint on the series has come to an end. However, in the wake of the mind-blowing moment, fans have been left wondering just why Lalo made the decision to murder Howard in cold blood.
Howard Hamlin’s Final Scene
The plot of the sixth season of Better Call Saul revolves around Jimmy and Kim’s strategy to bring about a rapid settlement in the Sandpiper Crossing case so that Jimmy can earn a payout of $2 million. This would be accomplished by discrediting Howard Hamlin as a witness in the case.
In the seventh episode, the plan that the two of them had devised is successful, and Howard is left to lick his wounds. In the final scene of the episode, he pays Jimmy and Kim a visit to congratulate them on the success of their plan, but he also offers a warning that he will not only land on his feet but also make their lives a living hell.

Lalo decided to take Howard’s life for a number of reasons, the primary one being that he did not want there to be any witnesses to the crime at the scene. Lalo had been absent from Albuquerque up until episode 7 since he had travelled to Germany in order to gain additional knowledge regarding Gus Fring’s superlab.
Lalo desired to keep his homecoming a secret. Keeping Howard around in his talkative state would have put that in jeopardy. Second, by eliminating Howard, Jimmy and Kim would be terrified beyond belief, which Jimmy is successful in accomplishing. This would give Jimmy the upper hand in the discussion that they are about to have with each other.
And finally, the third reason is that he was aware of the kind of individual Howard was. After Jimmy and Kim’s warning, Lalo at first gave the impression that he would be willing to let Howard depart swiftly in order to avoid the possibility of Howard being able to remember his face.
Lalo’s violent disposition, however, kicked in when Howard’s arrogance led him to joke that Lalo needed to hire better counsel, and Lalo disregarded the warning. As a result, Howard was k*lled by Lalo.
Better Call Saul Fans React to Howard’s De@th
Fans have certainly found that the passing of Howard, a figure who has been a part of Better Call Saul from the very beginning, has proven to be a significant topic of conversation among them. On Twitter, a user expressed their opinion that “That conclusion of Better Call Saul was nuts.”
