New Amsterdam Season 5 Release Date?
The fifth season of New Amsterdam will make its debut on NBC on Tuesday, September 20. The show will continue to air at 10 p.m. both Eastern and Pacific Time. The last season will consist of a total of thirteen episodes.

New Amsterdam Season 5 About?
Over the course of its first five seasons, New Amsterdam has chronicled the professional and personal lives of the medical staff at the show’s namesake hospital, particularly that of Dr. Max Goodwin, who is the protagonist of the show and whose mission is to attempt to repair a dysfunctional healthcare system.
The show is based on Eric Manheimer’s book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital, which can be found here (opens in a new tab). David Schulner, the show’s executive producer, was quoted as saying to TV Insider (opens in new tab) that the focus of the next fifth season of New Amsterdam will be on revisiting the series’ origin story.
He advised that during the fifth season, the finale should mirror the first episode. “I believe that for us, the best course of action would be to revisit the spirit of the first season, during which we introduced all of the characters, and to make certain that we brought their stories full circle by concluding them in the same spot they started off.
Since this was about Bloom’s addiction, we can assume that her mother won’t be far behind.” The journey down memory lane will play a role in bringing the series to a successful conclusion.
“So looking at the core difficulties that we put up for all of our characters in season 1, how can we bring those things to a finish in season 5, knowing that it’s our last?” asked Schulner after the previous statement. As we watch the last episodes of New Amsterdam, it goes without saying that we are going to want a good supply of tissues.
