Emily in Paris Season 3 Episode 1 Release Date (Spoiler Alert!)

When the first episode of Emily in Paris came out on Netflix, it seemed to come out of nowhere and take us away from the horrors of 2020.

The lighthearted drama-comedy about an American woman (Lily Collins) who moves to Paris was just what we needed after a year in which most of us couldn’t even leave our homes, let alone the country.

The show came back for its second season in December 2021, just in time for all your holiday bingeing needs. Netflix has now confirmed that season 3 of Emily in Paris will start airing in December 2022, which is very soon. So far, here’s what we know.

Emily in Paris Season 3 Release Date

Emily in Paris season 3 episode 1 will come out on December 21, 2022. This was confirmed in a new teaser video released during Netflix’s Tudum virtual fan event in October.

Emily in Paris Season 3 Plot Reveals

At the end of Season 2, Emily was trying to decide if she should stay in Paris or go back home. But since the show’s name hasn’t changed to something like “Emily in Berlin,” it’s safe to assume she’ll stay where she is, and the teaser confirmed that.

Emily’s relationship with her British boyfriend Alfie is getting hotter, and her relationship with her Parisian boyfriend Gabriel is still on the fence. And, of course, her close relationship with Ashley (Mindy Chen), a friend she can trust, is still a big part of the new season.

Variety says that Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Camille Razat, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and William Abadie will all be back for the new season.

There Are New Guest Stars

Some new people, like Paul Forman as Nicolas de Leon, will also be in the city of lights, along with all of your old favourites. Nicolas is a prince and the wealthy heir to his family’s business.

According to the synopsis (via E! ), Nicolas “seems to live a charmed life.” “But while the family name is an endless source of wealth, status, and access, it’s accompanied by a crushing pressure to prove himself as more than just a nepotism hire.”

Melia Kreiling will also be on the show. She will play Sofia Sideris, a Greek artist who comes to Paris for work and gets involved in a “passionate affair.” Inevitable. In the new season, Alfie, who is played by Lucien Laviscount, will have a bigger role.

The actor who played Emily’s love interest Alfie in season 2 has been promoted to a series regular for season 3, which means he’ll be on screen a lot more. Alfie’s return to the UK at the end of Season 2 was a memorable moment, but it looks like he’ll be back across the Channel Tunnel soon.

There will be a lot of “crazy” turns in Season 3. This isn’t a surprise, but according to actor Lucas Bravo, the show’s creator, Darren Starr, may have added even more surprises for the third season.

“What made this show successful will be in the next season with more twists,’ Bravo told Digital Spy. “Everything is just amplified. I feel like Darren [Star] went a bit crazy with writing this season. He’s living with us and writing as we shoot so he’s getting inspired by our own lives, and the things we say, and the places we go to, and he just injects the Darren Star magic bubble in the middle of all that and it just goes sideways.”

Emily in Paris Season 3 Began Making in the Summer of 2022

In April 2022, at the PaleyFest event for the show, showrunner Darren Star said that season 3 would start filming in June 2022. In the end, filming was done in September.

Lily Collins shared a heartfelt Instagram post with lots of fun behind-the-scenes photos to say goodbye to the set. “Words can’t express how many emotions I feel when I finish each @emilyinparis season and this year is no different,” Collins wrote.

“We truly have the best, most dedicated crew there is and a cast I can call a family. Thank you for supporting, uplifting, and encouraging endlessly and working tirelessly to make it all happen.”

Lily Collins is Happy to Play the Role Again

Collins talked about her hopes for the show’s future in an interview with Glamour for season two. This was before the show was picked up for a third season.

“I really hope people laugh and smile and get to have the same feelings of escapism and fun that they did the first season,” she said of the show’s second chapter.

“I hope viewers find more of themselves in different characters and feel seen and represented in the show. And I hope that we get a season three because I really hope we get to come back and do this again.”

The renewal wasn’t too much of a shock. In May, Netflix said that about 58 million homes around the world had watched the show in the first month after it came out.

The streamer said that made it their most-watched comedy series of the year. Since Netflix data is notoriously vague and self-reported, it’s hard to know what this means in the big picture. But let’s just say that cancellation would have been a big shock.

Emily in Paris Has Two More Seasons to Go

In January 2022, Netflix announced the Emily in Paris renewal with a post on the show’s Instagram account captioned, “Say ‘bonjour’ to 3 & 4! 💋 EMILY IS OFFICIALLY RETURNING FOR TWO MORE SEASONS!”
