The death of Tyre Nichols has shocked fans all around the world. The 29-year-old man’s death occurred three days after he was brutally attacked by police during a traffic check. Many people have wondered what motivated the savage attack, but others online have speculated that Nichols was having an affair with the ex-wife and baby mother of one of the police officers.
According to the Memphis Police Department, Tyre Nichols was pulled over for careless driving on January 7 as he was making his way home. When he struggled to free himself from the policemen’s grasp, five officers held him down and battered him. From the looks of the body cam evidence, he was kicked, punched in the head, pepper sprayed, tasered, and hit many times with a baton.
Nichols eventually died from his wounds three days after they occurred. In addition to the criminal accusations of second-degree murder and aggravated assault, police officers Justin Smith, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., Tadarrius Bean, and Demetrius Haley were terminated from their positions.
The killing of Tyre Nichols is still being looked at by many people who think his death was tainted by racism. Some online commenters now assume that Nichols’ vicious assault was motivated by a grudge towards the blogger.
CBS News was able to authenticate Nichols’ employment at FedEx and his identity as Tyre Nichols. The ex-wife of police officer Demetrius Haley worked at FedEx where Nichols did, leading some online to infer that the two were an item.

Others on the internet have pointed out that Nichols is actually the ex-wife of the police officer, despite the fact that the original poster claimed they were dating. The post also claimed that Haley photographed Tyre Nichols as he slumped against a car following a beating and “gave it to his babymama.”
Another Twitter user, @LisaCampbell102, weighed in on the topic by tweeting:

Twitter user @pinkgworlll expressed her anger at the rumors that Nichols was seeing Haley’s ex-wife and asked if the rumors were real. Users on the internet are confident that Nichols had a relationship with Haley’s baby’s mother, albeit they are unsure if it was Haley’s ex-wife or ex-girlfriend. One must keep in mind that official sources have not validated the rumors.
