Shields began modeling at the age of 11 months, beginning in 1966. Ivory Soap was cast in the part. He started out as a child model/actress and became famous for her starring role in Louis Malle’s controversial film “Pretty Baby” (1978), in which she played a child prostitute in turn-of-the-century New Orleans.
At age 14 in 1980, Shields made Vogue history as the magazine’s youngest cover model. Later that year, Shields was featured in some inflammatory advertisements for Calvin Klein jeans in print and television.
