Jim Brown, who was born on February 17, 1936, left a legacy that has stood the test of time. From 1957 to 1965, the football player was known for being a fullback for the Cleveland Browns.
Jim was inducted into the football hall of Fame during his career, but he quit at the top of his game to work for civil rights, according to the AP. On May 19, 2023, his wife, Monique Brown, used Instagram to share the sad news that her beloved husband had di*d.
“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown,” her note with a picture of them said. “He passed peacefully last night at our LA home. To the world, he was an activist, actor, and football star. T our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Kimberly B. Brown is Jim’s daughter. She is one of his children. Kimberly chose to go her own way, even though her father was a professional athlete. She went on to become an actress, executive producer, and showbiz powerhouse.
She made the show Daughters of Legends and is the show’s executive director. She also starred in the Amazon Prime movie One Night in Miami. The proud daughter would often post pictures of her dad on Instagram to wish him a happy birthday or Father’s Day. Kimberly shared a film montage of Jim on his birthday, February 17, 2023, three months before he di*d.

Every year you’re on this earth is a blessing from GOD! #87 I LOVE YOU DAD No matter what your blood runs through my veins and nothing can change that,” she wrote in the description. “You have been my supporter, my wisdom, and the example of a man to submit to. You showed me what a great man acts and looks like. You’re the light in my life Happy Birthday Dad‼️”

During their nearly 30-year marriage, Jim and Monique also welcomed a son, Aris Brown, who is now 21. According to NBC Sports, his son decided to follow a similar route as his father and is now a professional lacrosse player who joined the Hampton University squad in 2020.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, he stated, “I’m very proud and blessed to announce my commitment to play Division 1 lacrosse at Hampton University,” he wrote via Instagram in a since-deleted post. “I’d like to thank God, my family, friends, and coaches for helping me through the way.”

Morgan Brown, who works as a photographer, is also Monique and Jim’s daughter. Morgan likes sports as much as her dad and brother do, so in 2021, she went to college to play soccer. Jim wrote in the caption of a picture of his daughter’s USC soccer reveal, “So proud of my baby..” The brunette beauty also posted a picture of herself on the field in August 2021 with the words “Respect all, fear none.”
Jim N. Brown Jr.
Jim N. Brown Jr., Jim’s oldest son, also worked in sports. HBCU Gameday says that he played basketball at North Carolina A&T in the 1980s. Jim Jr. lives his life out of the press, so not much else is known about him.
Karen Brown
The Brunswick News reported in 2016 that Jim’s daughter, Karen Brown Ward, had di*d. Even though no one knows who her mother was, it is known that Jim had three children with his first wife, Sue Brown, with whom he was married from 1959 to 1972. “Karen Ward, daughter of NFL great and St. Simons Island native Jim Brown, passed away Monday morning at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick,” the news source said at the time.
Kevin and Kim Brown
Kim and Kevin Brown are said to be Jim’s other children from a previous relationship. They live a quiet life, so not much else is known about them.
