After actress Lindiwe Chibi was shot by her boyfriend Dan Mokoena in 2004, Mbau took up Chibi’s role as Doobsie on Muvhango. She allegedly lost her job a year later because she spent too much time partying and appearing in Sunday tabloids.
Mbau debuted as Mbali in the second season of the popular drama series Mzansi on SABC 1 in 2006. The program was not picked up for a third season by SABC 1. Mbau portrayed Zee in the SABC 1 miniseries After 9 later that year.
She served as a special guest judge for Turn It Out’s second season on SABC 1 in 2012. She appeared in an episode of Ekasi: Our Stories, an anthology drama series on E.tv, in 2013.
