Dr. Michelle Oakley is the sole veterinarian in the remote Yukon Territory for hundreds of miles. Most of her customers live in rural areas lacking essential services like municipal water and electricity.
Dr. Oakley is an on-call veterinarian for the Yukon Wildlife Preserve in Canada’s Yukon Territory, the American Bald Eagle Foundation, and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan after being born in Indiana, and her major was zoology.
After marrying Shane Oakley in 2000, she enrolled in and completed a DVM program at Atlantic Veterinary College. Dr. Michelle is an avid user of social media.
