Who is Bill Gothard?

William W. Gothard Jr. was born on November 2, 1934. He is an American Christian minister, speaker, and writer who started the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), a strict Christian group.

His lessons support conservative ideas like learning the Bible by heart, having prominent families, homeschooling, avoiding debt, men being better than women, women being submissive, and dressing conservatively.

During the 1970s, Gothard’s Basic Youth Conflicts seminar became very famous. It drew tens of thousands of people to week-long events in different parts of the United States and other countries.

Most of the people who went to these seminars were from the Baby Boomer group, and they affected their teenage years and early adulthood. There were also seminars for preachers, doctors, and lawmakers, among other groups.

Bill Gothard is still alive. He is 88 years old and lives in La Grange on Arlington Avenue. After being accused of sexu@l misbehavior and @buse, he gave up his leadership position at the Institute for Basic Life Principles (IBLP) in 2014.

In 1961’s Gothard founded IBLP. Several women accused Gothard of sexu@l misbehavior in 2014. He was also blamed for making the IBLP a place where @buse was common. He has said that these accusations are not valid. Gothard denied the accusations but gave up his position as head of the group.

All About Documentary “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets”

On Friday, Amazon Prime released a four-part documentary series called “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.” It showed that there were claims of wrongdoing at the institute’s offices.

It was in Hinsdale at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Adams Street for many years. The school had ties to the religious Duggar family. Since Gothard left, it has been said that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the parents, lead the group.

In the program, a woman who said she was one of Gothard’s victims said she had recently been to his house. The program said the house was in Chicago, but it was probably the one in La Grange.

Patch found out that Gothard lives in La Grange through his tax records. He gets a tax break for his home because he lives there. In the documentary, women said that Gothard called them to the Hinsdale headquarters when they were too young to go there on their own.
