Mueller was a BBQ king of Texas. LeAnn Mueller, the granddaughter of Taylor barbecue king Louie Mueller, the daughter of Bobby, and the sister of John were known for their expertly smoked meats.
In 2012, LeAnn and her wife Ali Clem launched la Barbecue on South First Street as a tiny food truck, complete with the long lines that denote good ‘cue. The lineups formed as soon as they opened a physical location at 2401 E. Cesar Chavez in November 2021.

She promptly changed the company’s name to La Barbecue. Mueller and Clem were charged with workers’ compensation fraud in August 2022. LeAnn Mueller, 51, was present. Funeral plans are still being finalized.
