Executive producer Jessica Levin told Collider at the beginning of June that “It’s like a movie, in that it’s contained and not an ongoing procedural that’s going to go for five seasons.” In terms of where you’re going to start and where you’re going to conclude, and tracing those relationships in ways that are very apparent and that have a start, middle, and finish, you have a really confined canvas, more so than a film.

Class of ’09 Episode 8, “Graduation,” opens with Tayo in 2025 contemplating his home invasion. He tells Poet he’s “mad as hell” because someone tried to kill him and joins the Bureau since the department covered up his father’s death. They killed my father and want to kill me. But I won’t let them kill this change,” he says.
Tayo tells Poet that Kyle Wilcox, who attacked him in his home, had no bank account and was dishonorably dismissed from the service. Tayo believes it was a murder for hire, so Poet runs the incident through the system and discovers 315 probable suspects. Kyle Wilcox appears alongside Aaron Dow, the most likely suspect. Tayo rises because Dow’s files are sealed.
He asks the FBI director who ordered the hit. After the Wall Street arrests and bank collapse, the individual was ordered to describe the new system to the federal authorities. Tayo informs the director that looking the other way isn’t heroic, and the director says he’s resigning early and recommends Tayo leave the team too.
From the future timeline, Tayo ignores and becomes the FBI director. Tayo could only preserve the system if he followed a list of exemptions, including spies, diplomats, and the president.
When Tayo gets home and informs Vivienne about his promotion, she asks him not to take the pregnancy test. To protect them, she invites Tayo to go away with her. He tells her he’ll go with his plan anyhow, and we transition to Poet and Hour’s serious debate.
