Janice “Jan” Marlene Griffin, 73, from Smelterville, ID, passed away on January 30, 2023, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, ID. She was born on February 8, 1949, in Newberg, OR, to Clarence and Virginia Asche.
Jan grew up in Anchorage, AK, and graduated from Anchorage High School in 1969. She married Fredrick Griffin on August 9, 1974, in Coeur d’Alene, ID, and they had three daughters: Heather, Holly, and Hilary. Fredrick passed away on June 19, 2022.
Jan cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved reading, solving word search puzzles, sewing, and watching her favorite TV shows.
She is survived by her three daughters: Heather (Mark) Freber of Smelterville, ID; Holly (Marc) Olson of Post Falls, ID; and Hilary (Travis) Guertin of Post Falls, ID.

She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Lakoda Griffin, Victoria Olson, Prestin Gibbs, Madison Gibbs, and Samuel Olson, as well as a great-grandson, Bentley Griffin. She leaves behind a sister, Barb (Jim) Duling of Sunapee, NH, and two nephews, Don and Shawn Duling, along with numerous cousins.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, ID.
The funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, at 12:00 PM, also at Shoshone Funeral Services. Jan will be laid to rest beside her husband, Fredrick, at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Kingston, ID.
