When it comes to the Duggars, marriage is seen as a “covenant with God,” which means that followers will avoid divorce at all costs. ‘Counting On’ viewers are aware that Anna and Josh Duggar’s marriage has already stood up to many scandals. Could the conviction for child s*xual abuse material (CSAM) against Jim Bob and Michelle’s eldest child be the final straw?
Let’s take a closer look at how likely (or unlikely) Anna is to divorce Josh.
Is Anna Really Divorcing Josh Duggar?
It’s tough to figure out how their marriage is doing right now because Anna has been rather quiet on social media in recent months. However, it does not appear like the mother of seven plans to divorce Josh.
What Exactly Did Josh Duggar Do?
Josh was charged after child p*rnography had been found on a work computer at his car dealership. On December 9, 2022, a jury convicted Josh guilty of two crimes: receiving and having CSAM. He faces up to 20 years in prison today.
A source informed The Sun after his arrest on April 29, 202-
Anna is standing by her husband as she always has. She even accompanied Josh to Fayetteville on Thursday so he could turn himself in to authorities.
It’s also worth noting that Anna was present during Josh’s trial and even allowed her children to meet him before it.

This makes sense given Anna’s prior comments on marriage following Josh’s Ashley Madison affair in 2015. During Season 1, Episode 2 of Counting On, Anna opened up about how the infidelity had affected her, as well as her thoughts on divorce.
He stated on the TLC show-
It’s such a betrayal for a spouse to go through what we’re rocking through. You know, from my heart, it was just like, ‘How could this happen in our marriage? Josh was my first love. He’s my one and only.’
Anna stated-
I knew that my only hope was to cling to my faith because I know if I went off of what I was feeling, I would turn a mess into a disaster. And so I think in the stun and in the shock of everything, I was just praying, ‘God, help me to know how to respond to all of this.’
When asked explicitly about her marital intentions, Anna stated unequivocally that divorce was not an option for her and Josh.
I know there are those that feel I have every right to walk away from this marriage, and I respect other people’s views,” she said. “But in my heart, when I got married I vowed to God first and then to Joshua, ‘for better or for worse, ’til death to we part.’
Anna continued-
I pray that through all of this, I would be an extension of God’s love to Joshua — that I would love him and forgive him, and that I would wait patiently and allow God to work in our hearts. And my prayer and my heart’s desire is for our marriage to be restored.
Josh ended up going away for a lengthy amount of time to a “Christian recovery program” to seek help after the Ashley Madison revelation in 2015. He did not return to Counting On after that, and the show was discontinued in June 2021.
Of course, this was all before the CSAM study began. Not to mention Josh’s cousin Amy (Duggar) King publicly asking Anna to leave him for good.
It appears that we will have to wait and see what Anna ultimately decides. Josh Duggar’s sentencing date has been set for May 25, 2022.
