Around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2023, Luke Silverman was riding his motorbike on South Boulder Road close to Tantra Drive when he collided with a vehicle that was making a left turn into Tantra Drive.
He was knocked off his bike by the impact of the collision, which seriously injured him. The paramedics declared him dead on the spot.
The car’s 19-year-old female driver escaped the collision unharmed.
She remained there and assisted the authorities. There have not yet been any charges brought, and the crash’s cause is still under investigation.
Who was Luke Silverman?
Luke Silverman was a superb tennis player and a rising senior at Fairview High School. He competed for the Fairview Knights at the number one singles position, and in 2020, he advanced to the 5A State Tennis Championships semifinals. Additionally, he participated in a number of national competitions and was a member of the USTA Intermountain Section.
On and off the court, Luke Silverman was renowned for his zeal, commitment, and sportsmanship. To his colleagues and younger players, he served as a mentor and a leader. He also had a fantastic sense of humour, was extroverted, and had a positive outlook on life. He cherished travel, art, and music.
Parents David and Jennifer Silverman, sister Emma Silverman, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends all survive Luke Silverman. He is also survived by his sister. On August 21, 2023, a memorial service was conducted for him in the auditorium at Fairview High School.
