Carrie Ann Inaba Illness and Health Challenges: Fight Against Chronic Diseases

Carrie Ann Inaba is a well-known figure in the entertainment business. She is best known for her work as a judge on “Dancing with the Stars” and for other things she has done in the business. Recently, though, the focus has been on a different part of her life: her health, rather than her acts and reviews.

People who like and follow Carrie Ann Inaba are asking, “What illness does she have?” As we look into this famous person’s personal and health journey, we hope to shed light on the sickness that has become such an important part of her life.

What is Carrie Ann Inaba Illness?

Inaba has never hidden the fact that she battles several challenging ailments on a daily basis and has occasionally broken down in tears on Dancing With the Stars while relating to other participants’ health issues.

Inaba has been identified as having lupus, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and chronic fatigue syndrome in addition to Sjögren’s syndrome, a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease. She explained to Health Digest, “Sjögren’s Syndrome is an autoimmune condition where your immune system attacks your moisture-producing glands, so that includes your tears. Your ability to make tears is affected, and so are salivary glands and your skin moisture.”

According to Inaba, she started seeking for strategies to control her chronic pain and inflammation because she had to deal with it daily. She revealed to the magazine that she altered her diet, used hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and sought out a physical therapist to ensure that she moved about a little bit each day.“I was making sure that every day, no matter how much pain I was in, that I did some sort of physical movement,” she shared.

Inaba started her website, Carrie Ann Conversations, in order to share some of her knowledge and experiences regarding her journey to wellness and to provide a platform for those dealing with related illnesses to connect with one another and find support.

Why is Carrie Ann Inaba Famous?

Inaba rose to fame in Japan as a pop singer long before she became well-known for her occasionally brutally honest criticism of the contestants on Dancing With the Stars. When Inaba, then 18 years old, won a talent competition in her native Hawaii, she departed for Japan.

She pursued pop singing training and even reached the top 50, though she called the experience to PEOPLE as “horrifying.” She said, “I was singing lyrics phonetically from a lyric sheet. It was horrifying. Being there I realized it has nothing to do with how artistic you are. Your face becomes a logo they sell.”

When Inaba later made her way back to the United States, her dancing career truly took off thanks to her 1990–1992 appearance on the Fox television program In Living Color. With her fellow multiracial dancers, Inaba claimed she felt “so at home” while performing as one of the “Fly Girls” with Jennifer Lopez.

Inaba is likely most recognized for her starring performance as Fook Yu in the 2002 movie Austin Powers in Goldmember. Off the stage, Inaba also had numerous cinematic appearances, frequently as a dancer.

Inaba joined The Talk in 2017 as a guest co-host in addition to serving as a judge on Dancing With the Stars. In 2019, she was promoted to permanent co-host. After three seasons as a full-time co-host, she left the program in 2021.
