In February 2020, during his sophomore season, he led Miller Grove High School to a 92-91 overtime victory in the first round of the class 5A state tournament, when he scored 49 points and made the game-winning shot.

The basketball star, who also had offers from Florida State and Georgia Tech, received his first Division 1 Scholarship offer from Ole Miss. Scoot turned down offers from Auburn and Georgia in favor of joining the NBA G League Ignite after reclassifying to the 2021 class.

High School Career

Henderson was a basketball player at Marietta’s Carlton J. Kell High School. He played with his brother, C. J., a senior on the squad, during his rookie season, coming off the bench. During his sophomore year in February 2020, Henderson defeated Miller Grove High School 92–91 in overtime to open the Class 5A state tournament.

He scored a then-career-high 49 points and made the game-winning shot. As a sophomore, he averaged 24 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals per game while leading Kell to the semifinals. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution named Henderson first-team 5A All-State and Class 5A Player of the Year.

As a junior on January 22, 2021, he broke the program’s single-game and career scoring records by scoring 53 points in a 94–64 victory over Osborne High School. Henderson, who scored 29 points in a loss to Wheeler High School, a team that included future all-star prospect Isaiah Collier, guided Kell to the Class 6A state championship game.

With a season average of 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, he was named Class 6A Player of the Year by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and made to the first team of the 6A All-State team. He played professionally instead of finishing his senior year.
