Divorce is never easy, but when it involves a famous person, such as British singer-songwriter Lily Allen, it may attract the attention of a global audience for all the wrong reasons. The difficult circumstances surrounding Lily Allen’s divorce have been well publicized in recent years.
This examination of Lily Allen’s divorce will go into the most important facts of her life in order to comprehend the causes of this momentous upheaval in her life and how it has impacted her as a creative force and as a person.
Lily Allen Divorce With Sam Cooper
Lily Allen’s marriage has ended and she is moving on. The British singer announced that she and her three-day spouse, Sam Cooper, had divorced. “I’m in a bit of a weird set of circumstances for me. I went through a separation and, you know, divorce, actually — now 3 days. Yay!” Allen, 33, stated this during an appearance on the British talk show Loose Women.
The “F— You” singer married Cooper, 40, a builder and decorator, in 2011 and divorced in 2016; they had two children, Ethel, 6, and Marnie, 5.
“Me and my husband share custody of my kids, so we’re a week on, week off, which actually is really useful for my work because when he’s got them, then I can concentrate fully on my work in the studio,” Allen said in an interview with ITV. “We’re both really friendly. Our kids go to school equidistant between our houses, so it works.”
Allen’s disintegrating marriage — and life as a mother — inspired a large portion of her new album, No Shame, which is due out on Friday.
“It’s like chaos, you know?” the singer said of the album’s opening track to Rolling Stone. “That’s where I was when it started. When I set out to write this record the biggest theme from the last four years of my life has definitely been the breakdown of my marriage and that happened possibly because of the chaos that was around at that time.”
In the Rolling Stone interview, Allen explained, “I’d been really f—ing depressed for the past few years … I definitely feel brighter.”
