Kali Uchis’s Career
August 1, 2012, was Uchis’s debut mixtape, which she released shortly after graduation. It was titled Drunken Babble. Doo-wop, reggae, and early 2000s R&B were among the influences for the mixtape, which was dubbed “genre-defying.” She co-wrote the song “On Edge” for rapper Snoop Dogg’s That’s My Work 3 mixtape in 2014.
Uchis made her debut EP, Por Vida, available for free download on her official website and iTunes in February 2015. Several musicians, including Diplo, Tyler, the Creator, Kaytranada, and BadBadNotGood, produced the project.
In October 2015, she set out on her maiden tour with Leon Bridges, traveling across portions of Canada and the United States. Gorillaz’s Humanz, their fifth studio album, was released in April 2017.

Uchis declared a “new era” for her music in July 2023, releasing “Muñekita,” the lead track for her upcoming album, which features American rapper JT from City Girls and Dominican rapper El Alfa. August 4, 2023, was the release date of the single.
Along with the album’s cover art, Uchis revealed on October 11, 2023, that her fourth studio album, Orquídeas, would be available on January 12, 2024. Uchis announced the music video and second single for her upcoming fourth album, “Te Mata,” on October 16, 2023. The album is scheduled for release on October 20, 2023.
