In Taipei, Taiwan, on June 6, 1972, Morales was born. Having moved about a lot as a child, she spent much of her time in the United States, Spain, Brazil, and Panama. As a result, she speaks Portuguese and Spanish in addition to English.
The family had to relocate frequently because her father, Mario, was a lieutenant colonel in the American Air Force. Before enrolling at Rutgers University, she attended Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware, where she graduated in 1990.
Morales did exceptionally well in college, graduating with a double major in Latin American Studies and Journalism and Media Studies. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa sorority, which was active in Greek life, and she received summa cum laude honours for her Bachelor of Arts degree.

Morales worked for a short time at Chase Bank following her degree completion before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. She later secured a position as a morning anchor at News 12 – The Bronx.

Natalie Morales Personal Life
Joseph Rhodes and Morales were wed in August 1998. Josh, the couple’s first son, was born in 2004 after nearly six years of marriage. Luke, their second son, was born in 2008.
The couple bought a townhouse in Hoboken, New Jersey in 2002 while Morales was employed on the East Coast. In 2008, they enlarged and remodeled it. They moved to Brentwood, California, after Morales sold the townhouse and took a job as the anchor of the “Today” show on the West Coast.
Outside of her career, Morales is an avid runner who has participated in multiple triathlons and marathons, including five New York City Marathons. “Triathlete Magazine” honored her with a cover and in-depth story, as well as an article in their October 2010 issue.
