Celia Walden, the spouse of Piers Morgan, has shared details of their “sabbatical” of six weeks. Morgan and Walden announced earlier this year that they were taking a break from one another after spending so much time together during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Walden discussed the advantages of the break for herself and her spouse with host Christine Lampard during an interview with Lorraine on Thursday, September 1. “It was perfect for both of us,” Walden said. “It was nothing like that, but it’s been a long pandemic, hasn’t it,” Walden said.
Regarding the piece in which she expounded upon the notion of this sabbatical, the British writer went on to say: “I described it in the piece as like rebooting your computer, where sometimes, it’s not that there’s anything in particular that’s wrong, but it grinds to a bit of a halt, and you reboot it, and suddenly it comes back to life.”
“We had just over five weeks apart over the summer, and to be fair, it was sort of work-necessitated because Piers was interviewing serial killers, which he found preferable to being married to me, and I was working in LA, so he was all over.”
She continued: “We did the message, we didn’t have many phone calls, but we did the message, and I just found it so exciting when we saw each other again; it felt like the early days of our marriage or even the early days of dating, and I loved that.”
On June 24, 2010, Morgan and Walden tied the knot in a private ceremony at Swinbrook, Oxfordshire. The couple’s first child, Elise Pughe-Morgan, who is now eleven years old, was born a year later.

Who is Celia Walden?
Born in France, Celia Pughe-Morgan (née Walden) is a British journalist, novelist, and critic. She was born on December 8, 1975. France’s Paris was Walden’s birthplace. During Margaret Thatcher’s presidency, her father, George, rose to the position of Conservative MP and Minister for Higher Education.
Sarah, Walden’s mother, is a picture restorer and art historian who has experience with old masters. After attending Westminster School, Walden studied at Cambridge University, where she majored in French and Italian studies. Her two brothers were her growing up.
Piers Morgan’s Press Career
In 1988, Morgan started working as a freelancer with The Sun, giving up his double-barrelled moniker. In December 1994, he revealed to Hunter Davies that Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie personally hired him to work on the newspaper’s “Bizarre” show business section, which was his first prominent position.
He wasn’t a pop music enthusiast, but he was good at self-promotion and took over as the column’s primary writer. “I became the Friend of the Stars, a rampant egomaniac, pictured all the time with famous people – Madonna, Stallone, Bowie, Paul McCartney, hundreds of them. Rupert Murdoch chose him as editor of the News of the World, which he took on in January 1994. After serving as an acting editor for a while, he was officially confirmed in the summer, making him the 29th youngest national newspaper editor in almost 50 years.
During this time, the newspaper made headlines with several scoops, which Morgan attributed to a very productive newsdesk and publicist, Max Clifford. Shortly after releasing pictures of Catherine Victoria Lockwood, the then-wife of Charles Earl Spencer, leaving a Surrey treatment for addiction issues, Morgan departed this position in 1995.
Because Morgan violated the editors’ code of conduct, the Press Complaints Commission upheld Morgan’s complaint for this misdemeanor. According to reports, Murdoch openly disassociated himself from the tale and stated that “the boy went too far.”
A private apology to Morgan is reported to have been made by Murdoch, who was afraid of facing a privacy law action if he had not reprimanded one of his staff members.
