Sarah Jessica Parker’s Career
Parker and his four siblings were cast in a musical called The Sound of Music at St. Louis, Missouri’s outdoor Muny Theatre. She joined the cast of the new 1977–1981 Broadway musical Annie in a supporting role as “July” before taking over the part of the orphan from the Great Depression in March 1979, following Andrea McArdle and Shelley Bruce.
For one year, Parker was in charge. The 1982 CBS sitcom Square Pegs, in which Parker starred, had a brief run of only one season. Critics praised her portrayal of a timid adolescent who revealed her true colors nonetheless.
