Ja Morant is a professional basketball player. Currently, He is a member of the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team. He was a standout athlete at Murray State University before this, making the first-team All-American in his sophomore season. In addition, Morant won the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year award for the 2018–19 campaign and led the NCAA in assists.
His mother was a point guard in high school who switched to softball in college, while his father had been a basketball player at Claflin University. Teniya, his younger sister, is a basketball player as well. Basketball player Morant spent his childhood honing his skills in his father’s garden.
Later, he played for the South Carolina Hornets in the Amateur Athletic Union circuit. Morant attended Crestwood High School to further his education and participated in the basketball team there. He left the school with 1,679 points, the record for most points scored. During his final two years of high school, Morant was also named to the South Carolina 3A All-State team.

In 2018, Dixon, a 23-year-old, started dating Morant. Recognized as one of the nation’s top basketball prospects at the time, the young superstar was a player for Murray State College. The two declared their relationship in 2018, though it’s unclear how long they’ve been together.

Ja Morant College Career
Murray State University’s basketball team unintentionally came upon Morant in July 2016 when assistant coach James Kane witnessed him participating in a game in the camp’s auxiliary gym.
After seeing the young player play, Kane got in touch with head coach Matt McMahon, who gave Morant a scholarship offer to the university. In a 118-61 victory over Brescia University in November 2017, Murray State’s new player, Ja Morant, made his debut.
He recorded his first double-double of the season the following month in a defeat to Saint Louis University. Soon later, in a victory over Eastern Illinois, Morant recorded his first triple-double of the season. He continued and assisted in Murray State’s NCAA Tournament run, which ended with a loss to West Virginia in the first round.
Morant’s real breakthrough season at Murray State came during his sophomore year. In a 74-53 victory over Wright State, he scored 26 points and disheveled 11 assists in his season debut. Afterward, he scored a season-high 38 points in a loss against Alabama. With 18 assists in a single game at the beginning of 2019, Morant eclipsed the Murray State record. In a victory over SIU Edwardsville, he scored 40 points, setting a new career high, in just over a week.
For the rest of the season, Morant kept getting better and better; he broke records for assists in both the school and OVC in a single season. Morant received the OVC Player of the Year award after the regular season. After that, he assisted in Murray State’s NCAA Tournament run, which ended in a loss to Florida State in the second round. After that, Morant decided to enter the NBA draft instead of finishing his last two years in college.
