He was a college football player for the Utah Utes, helping them win the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference in 2018 and 2019. After signing with the Ravens in 2020 as an undrafted free agent, he replaced injured starter Lamar Jackson in 2022 and was named to the Pro Bowl.
In Hallandale Beach, Florida, Huntley was a student at Hallandale High School. He passed for 9,053 yards and 106 touchdowns in his career. Tyler Huntley’s College Career
In 2016, Huntley filled in for Troy Williams in four games as a true freshman at Utah. In 2017, Huntley started ahead of Williams. With three injury-related absences from starting ten games, he completed 199 of 312 passes for 2,411 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Due to injuries, Huntley missed the final five games of his junior year in 2018, although he completed the season with 150 of 234 passes for 1,788 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.
In 2019, he made a comeback as the starting quarterback for the final season of his collegiate career. With just four interceptions in 14 games, he completed his college career with 3,092 yards and 19 touchdowns passing and five touchdowns rushing. He also led the Utes to the Pac-12 championship.
Tyler Huntley’s Professional Career
On April 30, 2020, Huntley signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens. On September 5, 2020, he was waived, and the following day, he joined the team’s practice squad.
He was added to the active roster on December 2, December 19, December 26, and January 2, 2021, for the team’s games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, and Cincinnati Bengals in weeks 12, 15, 16, and 17.
After each game, he was returned to the practice squad due to injuries or COVID-19 concerns affecting the team’s other three quarterbacks. In week 15, Huntley made his NFL debut in the fourth quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Replacing starting Lamar Jackson, Huntley went 2 of 4 for seven yards and added four rushes for 18 rushing yards (two of which were kneel-downs) as the Ravens prevailed 40–14. He joined the game late in the third quarter against the Bengals, as the game swiftly turned into a Ravens rout.
The Ravens won 38–3, and he ran six times for five yards and completed one pass attempt for eight yards. In preparation for the team’s divisional playoff game against the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans on January 15 and January 9, he was once more raised.
After each game, he was placed back on the practice squad. After Jackson was sidelined with a concussion, Huntley continued to play the whole fourth quarter against the Bills, finishing 6 of 13 for 60 passing yards and adding three rushes for 32 yards as the Ravens fell short 3–17.
