Tommy Smith, the father of YouTube star Everleigh Rose, died on September 9, 2022. He was only 29. The cause of death for Tommy Smith has been revealed.
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner confirmed that Smith died of an accidental overdose caused by acute fentanyl intoxication. While the cause of his death at the age of 29 has been identified, the coroner says the case is still ongoing.
Courtney Santaella, Smith’s girlfriend, confirmed the devastating news on Instagram on September 13, 2022.
“My heart is broken into a million pieces writing this. I feel numb and can’t think of words to say other than I wish this was a horrible nightmare,” she captioned the image. “You will forever hold a special place in my heart. I love you so much Tommy.”

Everleigh’s mother, Savannah LaBrant, 29, announced the news on Instagram on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
Savannah, a YouTube celebrity, commented under a touching photo of Everleigh with her father, “Our hearts are incredibly heavy as we process the loss of Everleigh’s dad, Tommy. He loved Everleigh immensely. As we navigate through this difficult time we kindly ask for privacy so that our family may continue to love on Ev, pray and grieve with her. Your prayers for Everleigh are so very appreciated.”

Smith’s obituary stated that he “gained his wings unexpectedly.”
“He was a father, son, brother, grandson, family and friend to all. His love of living life to the absolute fullest along with his free spirit will be missed immensely.”

Smith’s funeral was later held at a church in Saddleback, California. Instead of flowers, his family requested that supporters give to CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital.
“To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Thomas, please visit our Tree Store or plant a tree,” the obituary went on to say.
Savannah, who had Everleigh at the age of 19, told us about her and Smith’s ups and downs in an extract from her 2018 book Cole and Sav: Our Surprising Love Story, which she shared with PEOPLE ahead of its release.
Savannah and her now-husband Cole have three children, in addition to her 10-year-old with Smith. Smith previously addressed his co-parenting experience with Savannah in a 2020 video put on Savannah and Cole’s YouTube channel in response to criticism leveled at his ex and her spouse, Cole.
“Sav and I love coparenting,” he added, adding that “the hate in their direction needs to stop. Go plant a tree or something.”
The movie also serves as a compilation of TikTok videos created by Everleigh and Smith, including one in which he is shown with makeup all over his face and jokes, “So… I have a daughter.”

Everleigh expressed gratitude for having two fathers in another video posted in July. “One made me, and one raised me,” she explained. When Savannah asked Everleigh if she liked having two fathers, she grinned and said, “I love it.”
