Baker Mayfield’s Career
Cleveland picked Mayfield first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. On July 24, 2018, the Browns signed Mayfield to a four-year rookie contract worth $32.68 million in guaranteed pay.
Mayfield made his NFL debut in Week 3 against the Jets, replacing injured Tyrod Taylor with the Browns behind 14–0. Mayfield completed 17 of 23 passes for 201 yards as the Browns won 21–17 to end their 19-game losing run.
In his debut, Mayfield became the first player since Fran Tarkenton in 1961 to come off the bench, throw for over 200 yards, and lead his club to its first win.
