How much more trouble can Joey Graziadei handle on The Bachelor? After a few seasons with little drama (boring!), the directors are turning things up for Joey. Tonight on The Bachelor episode 4, he had to pick between Maria and Sydney, who were fighting.
The season 28 hunk had a lot on his plate because Sydney and Maria had a fight over bullying, and the other women in the house took sides. Tonight, for the first night of back-to-back episodes, the show went to Malta, a beautiful country in Europe.

For their alone time in Malta, Joey picked Lexi. They looked at old buildings, shopped, ate sweets, and danced in the cute street.
In the beautiful Mediterranean setting, they kissed. Later, Joey and Lexi sat in an old church while the local priest talked to them about how important it is to have kids after getting married. In a previous show, Lexi told the cameras that she had a health problem that might make it impossible for her to have her own children.
Lexi did that while they were eating dinner. She told him that she got sick while working in New York and had surgery. Stage 5 endometriosis, a reproductive disorder, was found. Tissue that was meant to grow in her uterus had grown on other organs “all the way up to my lungs.”
Lexi, 30, told Joey that the news had broken her heart and that her ex-boyfriend’s breakup over the possibility of her not being able to have children had made things worse. Joey told her, “doesn’t scare me,” and he was willing to adopt if things didn’t work out between them.
She told him that his kindness “brings me to tears…I appreciate you so much.” Joey gave her the rose for the date, and they kissed.

Sydney told Jess that she couldn’t believe Maria was still there after the week she had told Joey how bad Maria was. They were both still on the show because Joey liked them.
“It’s making my health worse. I’m exhausted,” Sydney told the cameras about the fight that started when she didn’t like how Maria made fun of Masina for being shy as the oldest woman on The Bachelor.

It wasn’t a real rose ceremony tonight, but Joey met them later for dinner with just one rose on the table. There, the good-looking tennis pro said that he had chosen the woman with whom he felt the most linked.
He asked Sydney if she thought they would be together again, and she said yes. Maria did the same thing. Maria told him, “I hope you feel the same way I do.”
“I’m going with my gut,” Joey said as he picked up the rose.
He said, “Sydney, I’m sorry but I cannot give you this rose. Is it OK if I walk you out?” Joey told her he felt stronger about Maria and Sydney told the cameras, “I’m a little shocked. He doesn’t know the real her. She sucks.” The blonde vowed to go home and “see my cats.”
Joey gave Maria the rose for a date with him, and a singer came out and sang “Ave Maria.” Back at the hotel, the other people saw a team member take Sydney’s bag away. Lea cried because her friend was leaving.
