Billie Eilish Deleted Social Media: Why Did She Done This?

Billie Eilish has cut down her social media presence. The singer, 21, explained why she removed social media from her phone during a segment on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast.

“I don’t look at it anymore,” she said of social media. “I’ve deleted it all off my phone.”

The dramatic action was “such a tremendous thing” for Eilish, she said.

“I feel like I grew up in the perfect time of the internet when it wasn’t so internet-y that I didn’t have a childhood. I really had such a childhood and I was doing stuff all the time,” she said. “It was computers and games on computers, but barely. We were doing stuff. And then when I became a preteen there were iPhones, and then I got a little older and there was all of what [the internet] has become.”

But back then, according to Eilish, she played a role in the development of social media as we know it today.

“Being a preteen and a teenager on the internet, those were my people. I was one of them. I was one of those people on the internet,” she said. “And then to, within myself, feel like nothing changed, that I’m doing what I’ve always done and… to just keep doing what I do over the years, and slowly the videos I’m watching and the things I see on the internet are about me. I’m like, ‘Ew! Stinky! I don’t like that.'”

Eilish cited a specific instance of the circumstance, saying she was with her boyfriend, Jesse Rutherford, when a video about her appeared online. Basically, it said, “Billie Eilish is a bad person.” An extremely serious video explaining the reason followed.

The speaker appeared to be in the correct frame of mind when they made all of these statements. I thought, “Jeez, wow,” when she said it. “I simply live in a very bizarre world. “That’s my face,” I exclaim. My name is that. That is me. Interesting, I see. OK. Alright.

They know these unambiguous claims to be true because someone informed them so, continued Eilish. “This is the truth about Billie, and you are certain of it, God descended and said. Despite the fact that you don’t know her, you are certain that this is the case, and if you tell everyone about it, they will all accept it as fact.

Eilish added that another aspect of the internet that “freaks” her out is “how gullible it makes you.” I believe whatever I read online. Me! And I have proof that it’s not all true, therefore I know for a fact that’s stupid and I shouldn’t do that. Hardly any of it is accurate She spoke. It’s like, little things, little white lies that everyone believes while not understanding.

The singer said, There will be a picture of me somewhere at the gym and then I’ll see paparazzi pictures there and that’s what I was doing and it says like, ‘Billie Eilish in Hollywood going to a studio to work on her new album, she said.

I’m thinking, Why would you even need to lie about that?  because that is such a small untruth. It’s just very bizarre, and it makes me wonder, Wow, how much of what I was reading on the internet all those years ago was a lie?
