Squash moved to Florida in 2021 but has not been a legal resident of the Republican state. On Monday, May 22, 2023, sources informed Urban Islandz that the artist was detained at the Krome Detention Center in Miami for visa violations.
His arrest coincides with concerns raised by the NAACP and other civil society organizations regarding a new anti-illegal immigration law passed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The law goes into effect in June, but the national guard and other authorities have been out in full force targeting illegal workers in public transportation, public locations, and different environments such as workplaces. The law also targets family and friends and imposes a slew of new offences on those discovered with illegal immigrants.
