Clark Haggans, a former NFL player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, k*lled unexpectedly at the age of 46, unexpected the American football community in the process.
The Super Bowl XL champion’s passing was confirmed on Tuesday night by a Pittsburgh sports radio broadcaster.
Haggans played in the NFL for 13 seasons, eight of which he spent with the Steelers from 2000 to 2007. He won the Super Bowl in 2005, which he can claim. He recorded a career-high nine sacks throughout the season as the Steelers defeated the opponent 21–10 in that game.

Haggans’ Cause of Deαth
Haggans’ cause of deαth has not yet been disclosed. The San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals were among Haggans’ other teams. With the 49ers, he made it to the Super Bowl one more, and in 2012, he was a member of the NFC champions.
His selection by the Steelers in 2000 had a particularly wonderful flavor to it because Joey Porter, a classmate and buddy from college, had been selected by the team the year before.
“I was happy I was drafted – and to go and see Joey there with open arms. They should have played that Reunited song,” Haggans told Steelersnow.com in 2019.
Reflecting on his first NFL game, Haggans said: “I was star-struck seeing Troy Aikman. I used to use him on my Techno-Bowl team,” Haggans said. “Randall Cunningham was on their team then and when they snapped the ball, I didn’t move. It all happened so fast – I just stood there grabbing my crotch.
“Before the pros, my coach would tell me – that dude with the ball – go get him and don’t let him score. If we had more points than the other team I was happy,” Haggans said. “Now, I had to learn about unbalanced lines, jumbo packages, spread offenses and two-minute offenses. It was just crazy. It wasn’t just go get the guy with the ball anymore.”
