Choi Sung-bong Cause of Death
A day after posting a note on YouTube, the South Korean Police reportedly discovered him dead on Tuesday morning. After finishing in second place on Korea’s Got Talent, he gained notoriety.
Sung-bong, 33, was discovered dead by police at his house in Seoul’s Yeoksam-dong neighborhood around 9.41 am on Tuesday. He committed su!c!de, the police reported on Wednesday.

Choi Sung-bong Faced Controversy in 2021
Sung-bong claimed that he had cancer in January 2021 and that he was raising money to support his album. He admits to fabricating his ailment in October 2021, a few months later. He had reportedly added, as cited by a Naver story,
“I sincerely and deeply apologize for causing social upheaval and great disappointment regarding the controversy over the authenticity of Choi Seong-bong’s false cancer battle reported in the media. All diagnoses of thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, lung, liver, and kidney metastasis, excluding major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, are false.”

Choi Sung-bong Career
Ennio Morricone’s “Nella Fantasia” was performed by Choi on Korea’s Got Talent on June 6, 2011, and it earned favorable reviews. He identified himself as a manual laborer who had spent the last ten years making a living by selling gum and energy drinks.
Choi went to the competition’s finals because Kolleen Park, Jang Jin, and Song Yun-ah, the three judges, were sufficiently impressed by his vocal prowess to do so.
Choi came in second place, albeit by just 280 votes. Choi’s performance video was uploaded on YouTube and praised by celebrities including Justin Bieber, BoA, Jung-Hwa Um, and hundreds of thousands of Facebook fans in addition to politicians like South Korea’s former president Lee-Myung-Park.
Assertions that Choi was “the next Susan Boyle” in one version with English subtitles attracted the attention of the worldwide press. 175,078,474 people have seen the video as of September 2020.
