Thieves broke into Tina Knowles-Lawson’s house and took a safe with more than $1 million in cash and valuable jewelry. She is the mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, who are both singers. On Monday, a law enforcement source revealed this to The Times.
A police source said that a worker at the Hollywood Hills home found out about the theft last week. When the break-in happened, the business owner, who was 69 years old, was out of town.
Los Angeles police say they don’t know how or when the thieves got into the house, but they were able to take the safe and everything inside it.
Burglars who break into the homes of celebrities have been known to push or slide whole safes out through patio doors or off staircases..

A law enforcement source who wasn’t allowed to talk about the case said that the theft probably wasn’t random and that the thieves probably knew about the high-value items on the property and the safe from someone who knew about them. Burglars have been breaking into the homes of famous people for a long time.
In 2018, the Robbery Homicide Division of the LAPD caught a group that was looking at the social media posts of famous people to find out when they would be away from home.
They went after people like the former Dodger Yasiel Puig, the singer Rihanna, the director of “This Is Us” Daniel Fogelman, and the former Ram Robert Woods.
Authorities say that the ring wanted to break into the homes of Laker LeBron James and actor Matt Damon, but LAPD officers caught some of them before they could. In the end, 13 men with ties to a South L.A. gang were charged with a string of high-tech break-ins.
