The release of Zayn’s new song coincides with his comeback to the public eye. The former member of One Direction just gave his first interview in years. Zayn, who quit the boy band in 2015 to focus on a solo career, said on the Call Her Daddy podcast’s July 12 edition, “I feel like we were so overexposed in the band. That is why I used my free time to, say, avoid conducting interviews altogether.”
And why did he initially leave 1D? The 30-year-old said to host Alex Cooper that “There was a lot of—look I don’t want to go into too much detail, but there was a lot of politics going on,” the 30-year-old revealed to host Alex Cooper. “Certain people were doing certain things, certain people didn’t want to sign contracts, so I knew something was happening, so I just got ahead of the curve.
