McLain High School, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was Jacobs’ high school of choice. During his time playing high school football for the Titans, he amassed a total of 5,372 yards and scored 56 touchdowns. He has made a verbal agreement to play college football for the University of Alabama.

When Jacobs was in middle school, he did not have a home. Towards the close of his first year in the NFL, he was featured in a Kia ad that reflected on his time spent living on the streets of Chicago. The commercial ran during Super Bowl LIV.

Jacobs split playing time with Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough as a rookie at Alabama in 2016, carrying 85 times for 567 yards and four touchdowns. He gained 284 yards on 46 carries with one touchdown as a sophomore in 2017.

He had been playing with a broken ankle for the majority of the season, it was discovered after the season. He ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns as a junior in the 2018 SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs, winning MVP honors.

Professional Career

Jacobs was chosen by the Oakland Raiders with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He ran 12 times for 99 yards in the following game against the Kansas City Chiefs, which the Raiders lost 28-10. Jacobs ran 26 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns three weeks later at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 24-21 victory over the Chicago Bears.

He also grabbed three passes for 20 yards. The new stadium’s first touchdown was scored on one of those plays. He ran 21 times for 124 yards in Week 7’s 42-24 road loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Jacobs ran 28 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-24 victory over the Detroit Lions two weeks later. The Raiders rookie record for running yards in a season was broken by Jacobs after just eight games, beating Marcus Allen’s previous mark of 697.

Jacobs ran for 71 yards and the game-winning score in the following game on Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers, and he also caught five passes for 30 yards. Jacobs gained 112 yards on 23 carries in the 17-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11 of the season.
