Josh Groban Career
Groban, then 16 years old, was introduced to Grammy-winning producer and arranger David Foster as well as future manager Brian Avnet by his vocal instructor, Seth Riggs, towards the end of 1997.
Groban was getting ready for his studies at Carnegie Mellon at the time and had no prior recording experience. As a rehearsal singer for David Foster, Groban performed at a number of high-profile occasions, such as Gray Davis’s inauguration as governor of California in January 1999 and the 1999 Grammy Awards, where he sang Foster’s “The Prayer” with Céline Dion in place of Andrea Bocelli.
