Jenny McCarthy is an actress and model whom Carrey met in 2005. They went public with their relationship in June 2006. The couple called it quits on their romance in April 2010. McCarthy stated in October 2010 that their friendship remained strong.
In 2012, Carrey got to know Cathriona White, an Irish makeup artist from County Tipperary. Their dating years were 2012–2015. White was discovered dead on September 28, 2015, after overdosing on prescription drugs; the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined that White’s death was a suicide.

When Carrey was fifteen years old in 1977, he had his first experience performing stand-up comedy. His father had driven him to downtown Toronto to make his stage debut at the newly opened Yuk Yuk comedy club, which was housed in the basement of The 519 community center on Church Street.
Carrey’s mother picked out his polyester leisure suit for the performance, reasoning that “that’s how they dress on The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast.” After his traditional impersonations failed miserably in a bar with a bawdy comedy vibe, adolescent Carrey began to doubt his future as a professional entertainer.
Owner of Yuk Yuk, Mark Breslin, recalled Carrey’s stand-up debut decades later and called it “bad Rich Little.” Carrey’s family struggled financially, making it difficult for them to encourage his aspirations in show business.
The family eventually saw financial improvement and moved into a new house at Jackson’s Point. After gaining stability in his home life, Carrey went back on stage in 1979 with a more polished performance, which helped him land his first paid employment.
He played a 20-minute set for a reported Can$20 at the Hay Loft club on Highway 48 in Scarborough as part of a bill that also included the Mother of Pearl performer from The Pig and Whistle.

But real-life Biden’s modest demeanor clashed with Carrey’s exuberant comedic approach, creating an imitation that lacked authenticity and failed to win over viewers and reviewers. Carrey revealed on December 19, 2020, that he will be leaving his role as Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live, citing a six-week contract. The same day, during the cold open of the program presented by Kristen Wiig, cast member Alex Moffat took up Carrey’s role as Biden.
