Born on February 21, 1989, George Jules “Jake” Bequette III is an American Army infantry officer and former defensive end for the American football team. He served in Iraq as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.
The Patriots selected him in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft with the 90th overall choice. He was a football player for the University of Arkansas and Catholic High in Little Rock, Arkansas, as well as a collegiate player.
In that year’s draft, Bequette was considered an up-and-coming defensive end prospect. In the Arkansas Senate race of 2022, he ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican nomination.

Amateur Career
George Jules Bequette III gave birth to Jake Bequette in Little Rock. Bequette went to Little Rock Catholic High School. Following high school, Bequette played collegiate football for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2007 to 2011 at the University of Arkansas.
He recorded 140 tackles and 23.5 sacks in 48 games during his career, starting 42 of them. He was chosen for the first team of the Southeastern Conference as a senior.
After helping the 2011 Arkansas Razorbacks football team defeat Kansas State 29-16, Bequette was named the Defensive MVP of the 2012 Cotton Bowl. The Razorbacks concluded the 2011 season with an 11-2 record and a No. 5 final ranking in both polls.
Bequette recorded three quarterback sacks and five tackles at the end of the game. Bequette is a third-generation Razorback, having played for Arkansas with his uncle, father Jay, and grandfather George.
Professional Career
The New England Patriots selected Bequette in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He participated in three contests in 2012 and five in 2013. On August 30, 2014, he was waived by the Patriots as part of their final roster reductions.
During his tenure with the Patriots, he did not receive a lot of playing time, but soon after the 2014 cuts, he joined back with the practice squad. In 2014, Bequette won a Super Bowl ring while playing for the Patriots.
The Patriots moved Bequette from defensive end to tight end prior to the 2015 campaign. On August 28, 2015, Bequette cleared waivers and was signed on an injured reserve by the Patriots. On September 4, 2015, he was declared a free agent and was released with an injury settlement.
