The show debuted on TruTV on December 15, 2011. Vulcano is of Italian, Cuban, and Puerto Rican ancestry, and he was born on Staten Island. He went to Monsignor Farrell High School and was a part of the Improvisation Club there, along with Quinn, Gatto, and Murray. Sal Vulcano’s Career
Following their college graduation, Murray, Gatto, and Vulcano got back together after a long separation. They started practicing improvisation in Gatto’s house, and in 1999, they went on tour as The Tenderloins, an improv and sketch comedy team.
Together, the Tenderloins started creating comedic sketches that went viral online, receiving millions of views on sites like YouTube, MySpace, and Metacafe. The group’s sketch “Time Thugs” earned the $100,000 grand prize in the 2007 NBC It’s Your Show competition.
The first season of Impractical Jokers, which debuted on TruTV on December 15, 2011, drew in over 32 million viewers. The program has propelled Vulcano into the public consciousness and grown to be the most-watched series on TruTV.
Sal was the most reprimanded joker on the show as of November 2017. When Q, Murr, and Sal failed in Season 3, Episode 26 (“The Permanent Punishment”), they were forced to receive a tattoo of Joe’s choosing. Sal received a tattoo of Jaden Smith, which turned into a recurring joke on the program.
