On January 18, 2015, he posted a picture of himself and his grandmother to Instagram with the message, “Hoover Dam yesterday w this wild thing.” He shared a photo on October 26, 2018, writing, “Always been by my side through thick & thin.”

Rebecca would come to see his grandson play at Paulson Stadium every time she went. In remembrance of his grandma, he began wearing eye black under one eye during his final game at Georgia Southern.
