Haikyu!! Movie Hits Big, Earns $14 Million in First Weekend in Japan

The first “Haikyu!!” final movie, called “Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump,” just had a huge weekend in Japan.

It was the most popular movie, with 1.52 million people buying tickets and making about 2.23 billion yen (that’s around $14.86 million) in just three days.

This means it did better than any other movie this year, even beating the “Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM” movie.

The movie started showing on Friday and was even available in IMAX theaters, giving fans a really cool way to watch it.

Susumu Mitsunaka, who worked on the “Haikyu!!” TV series, directed the movie and wrote the story.

It’s all about an exciting volleyball game between two schools, Karasuno High and Nekoma High.

Back in August 2022, they told everyone that these two movies would finish up the “Haikyu!!” story.

The story comes from a comic series by Haruichi Furudate that started in 2011 and finished in 2020. You can read it in English too, thanks to Viz Media.

“Haikyu!!” isn’t just a comic and a movie, it’s also been turned into TV shows, stage plays, and even video games. There was a new play based on it just last August.

With this movie doing so well, fans of “Haikyu!!” are super excited and can’t wait to see what happens in the next movie.
