Tiger Woods participated in his first event of the season at the 2024 Genesis Invitational. However, he didn’t play in the rounds that took place during the weekend. This wasn’t because he failed to qualify for these rounds.

Instead, Woods decided to withdraw from the event. In this article, we’ll cover all the details about Tiger Woods’ illness and why he had to leave the tournament.

Is Tiger Woods Suffering From Illness?

The player who has won 15 major tournaments had to leave The Genesis Invitational before it finished because he thought he was getting sick with the flu. People saw Woods leaving the golf course in a cart, and he looked very upset.

Woods went on X (formerly Twitter) to explain why he was pulling out of the event.

He said: “I would like to confirm that I had to withdraw from Genesis Invitational due to illness, which we now know is influenza. I am resting and feeling better. Good luck to the players this weekend. I’m disappointed to not be there and want to thank Genesis USA and all the fans for the support.”

Take a look at Tiger Woods’ tweet here:

Reporters were told by his business partner Robert McNamara that Tiger Woods has been showing signs of being sick since Thursday. Through CNN, he said: “He had a little bit of a fever and that, and was better during the warm-up, but then when he got out there and was walking and playing, he started feeling dizzy.”

Woods left the event in a standard event car and went to the hospital to improve his health.

Is Tiger Woods receiving any treatment?

After the competition, they gave a 48-year-old an IV drip because he was sick. CNN reported that McNamara said the person had the flu and was very dehydrated. But after getting treated with an IV, he’s feeling a lot better and will be able to leave soon.

This year hasn’t started well for Woods. But he’s hoping to get better and play in the Masters tournament in April.

The 2024 Genesis Invitational, a golf tournament, has been really exciting. Tiger Woods had to leave because he was sick, and Jordan Spieth got removed because he made a mistake with his score. Right now, Patrick Cantlay is leading by five shots. Mackenzie Hughes, Luke List, and Jason Day are all in second place, tied.
