One of Jeffrey’s victims, Tony Hughes a deaf man who could not communicate has been given the chance to “tell” his story. Tony (Rodney Burford) and his relationship with Jeffrey Dahmer (also played by Burford) are the subjects of the sixth episode of the series.

Who was Tony Hughes, and what became of him? Let me fill you in on some details.

Starting With This Who Tony Hughes Was?

In 1960, when Tony Hughes was just a baby, his parents gave him the name Hughes. As an infant, he suffered irreversible hearing loss as a result of the unwanted consequences of the medication he was given. Hughes transferred to the University of Wisconsin–Madison in order to study fashion design and launch a career in the modeling profession.

The Netflix film claims that he faced significant difficulty finding job due to his disability, but that he eventually found work in a clothes store, where he used sign language to communicate with his management. Hughes considered himself to be gay, and he frequently visited lesbian and gay establishments.

Why Was Tony Unable To Speak?

Anthony “Tony” Hughes’s FBI profile states that he was born on August 26th, 1959. The Sun reports that he went deaf as an infant due to the adverse reactions to medication he received. Apparently, he was also deafening in volume.

It was reported by Gallaudet University that only one person from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf graduated. Mom Shirley Hughes said her son Tony was “outgoing, jovial, and happy” and “he could easily make friends.”

Who introduced Tony and Jeffrey?

Tony reportedly met the man while chatting with clients at a homosexual pub using a notepad. Even with his killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, he was able to connect in this fashion.

Tony went to Madison to see his relatives he said when I was 24, I went out dancing at a Milwaukee gay bar. According to recent Associated Press news reports, Jeffrey Dahmer abducted the man, drove him home, drugged him, dissected him, and kept his skull.

It’s not clear how much of the episode is based on actual events and how much is fiction, but it does reveal how the two met and how they eventually fell in love.

The boy’s mother told the AP that her son had “started a new job two weeks earlier but never got his first salary” and that “she was unable to reach the friend since she only knew a first name—Jeffrey.”

Little is revealed regarding Tony’s death at Jeffrey Dahmer’s hands, not even in the show.

Hughes, 31, was last seen by pals on May 24 at the “219-Club,” but he hasn’t been seen or heard from since May 31, 1991, according to FBI data. Two months later, in July 1991, his skull and vertebrae were among the several sets of human remains found in Dahmer’s apartment.

Tony’s mother found out about his death in early July, he was first identified through dental records.

“I thought I was going insane when it first happened,′′ his mother, Shirley Hughes, told The Associated Press in 1992. She stated in another interview, “I simply prayed to the Lord to show me where my son was. I just wanted to know if he was alive or dead. It hurts because of how he died. It defies description.′′

What Is The Status of Tony’s Family?

Let us jump onto a more hopeful note after the grieving mother vowed to prevent anyone else from having to experience what she had and she devoted her life to doing just that.

Shirley like the rest of Tony’s family is an introvert who has learned to appreciate her seclusion but it seems they were able to overcome their troubled history and keep it alive via prayers and remembrances.

What Was Wrong With Him?

At a homosexual bar in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, serial killer Anthony Hughes first encountered Jeffrey Dahmer in May of 1991. Dahmer frequented the area, and he often lured his victims with the promise of sexual encounters and favors.

Hughes, who was 31 at the time, reportedly agreed to accompany Dahmer back to his apartment. There is a common misconception that Dahmer explicitly requested a nude photo shoot. Dahmer drugged the man and strangled him to death once they were inside. They say Dahmer’s body was dissolved in acid, but he managed to keep his head.

Was A Deaf Man One of Jeffrey Dahmer’s Victims?

Some accounts have it that Tony Hughes, a frequenter of homosexual bars, met Jeffrey Dahmer in one and consented to go home with the killer when Dahmer promised a nude photo shoot by written request. Once inside the murderer’s area, Tony was drugged before being strangled to death. Reportedly, just his skull was lost in the acidic dissolution of his body.

Contemporary news sources from The Associated Press state that Jeffrey Dahmer picked up his deaf victim, took him home, sedated him, dismembered his body, and retained his skull.

Who Were The Other People Jeffrey Dahmer Killed?

At least seventeen young men and boys were killed by Dahmer, popularly known as the “Milwaukee Monster,” between 1978 and 1991. Moreover, he cannibalized several of them, taking their skulls and genitalia to keep as trinkets. The men’s ages ranged from 14 to 32, so they were all in their twenties.
