One of Jeffrey’s victims, Tony Hughes a deaf man who could not communicate has been given the chance to “tell” his story. Tony (Rodney Burford) and his relationship with Jeffrey Dahmer (also played by Burford) are the subjects of the sixth episode of the series.

Why Was Tony Unable To Speak?
Anthony “Tony” Hughes’s FBI profile states that he was born on August 26th, 1959. The Sun reports that he went deaf as an infant due to the adverse reactions to medication he received. Apparently, he was also deafening in volume.
It was reported by Gallaudet University that only one person from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf graduated. Mom Shirley Hughes said her son Tony was “outgoing, jovial, and happy” and “he could easily make friends.”

Tony reportedly met the man while chatting with clients at a homosexual pub using a notepad. Even with his killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, he was able to connect in this fashion.

Little is revealed regarding Tony’s death at Jeffrey Dahmer’s hands, not even in the show.
Hughes, 31, was last seen by pals on May 24 at the “219-Club,” but he hasn’t been seen or heard from since May 31, 1991, according to FBI data. Two months later, in July 1991, his skull and vertebrae were among the several sets of human remains found in Dahmer’s apartment.
Tony’s mother found out about his death in early July, he was first identified through dental records.
“I thought I was going insane when it first happened,′′ his mother, Shirley Hughes, told The Associated Press in 1992. She stated in another interview, “I simply prayed to the Lord to show me where my son was. I just wanted to know if he was alive or dead. It hurts because of how he died. It defies description.′′

Was A Deaf Man One of Jeffrey Dahmer’s Victims?
Some accounts have it that Tony Hughes, a frequenter of homosexual bars, met Jeffrey Dahmer in one and consented to go home with the killer when Dahmer promised a nude photo shoot by written request. Once inside the murderer’s area, Tony was drugged before being strangled to death. Reportedly, just his skull was lost in the acidic dissolution of his body.
Contemporary news sources from The Associated Press state that Jeffrey Dahmer picked up his deaf victim, took him home, sedated him, dismembered his body, and retained his skull.

At least seventeen young men and boys were killed by Dahmer, popularly known as the “Milwaukee Monster,” between 1978 and 1991. He was captured by Milwaukee police on July 22, 1991, after conducting horrible crimes and letting Tracy Edwards escape. Dahmer was found guilty and given 16 consecutive life sentences the following year. A fellow convict, Christopher Scarver, killed him in 1994.
