According to several reports, at least 68 ICU nurses at a Spanish hospital have tested positive for Covid after they went to attend the Christmas party of the hospital.
A Variant of the Virus Still Not Known
According to sources, on Monday, the regional government in Spain’s Andalusia area stated that the employees worked at the University Regional Hospital in the city of Malaga.
It is being said that the source of the infections was yet to be investigated, however, that all the nurses had gone to the party on 1st December, as per reports. Further, it’s being said that a total of 173 people had attended the party.
Everyone Who Was Infected Had Mild Symptoms
According to the reports of the Spanish newspaper El País, the party was held at a restaurant in the city. However, it is still to be confirmed about the variant of the virus with which the nurses were infected. Although those who were tested positive also have mild symptoms only.

All those people who went to attend the party had either shown a negative antigen test or had received their booster shot of coronavirus vaccine, as per sources.
Antigen tests are even quicker and less costly in comparison to some other types of COVID-19 test, such as PCR tests, although it is also known that they don’t give many accurate results and even it can sometimes show a negative result even though the person has an infection.
Although, according to public health experts, the tests still play an important part since they are available and detect several coronavirus cases.
The possibilities of catching infection by the coronavirus have been reduced to a great extent with the help of vaccines, but it does not evade the risk of infection entirely.
But those who have taken vaccination most probably will be having only mild symptoms and provide enough protection against critical illness, hospitalizations, and even death. The chances of spreading viruses are also relatively less from vaccinated people.
