Christine Brown’s decision to leave Kody and end their polygamous marriage is depicted in seasons 16 and 17. Fans of the TLC show have speculated that another of Kody’s wives may be planning to leave in the wake of her departure from the Brown family. So, has Kody broken up with Janelle Brown?
Just to refresh your memory, Janelle is Kody’s second wife; the two have been “spiritually married” since 1993. Logan, Madison, Hunter, Garrison, Gabriel, and Savanah are Janelle and Kody’s six children.
Janelle Said She’s Thought About Leaving Kody in a Season 16 Confessional
Season 16 of Sister Wives focused on the Brown family as they dealt with the pandemic of COVID-19. Since Kody and his four wives couldn’t agree on basic safety measures, their marital problems only got worse.
Christine and Janelle chose to travel and spend time with their adult children rather than spend time with their husband, Kody, who had a strict set of rules that included extreme social distancing, sanitizing mail and groceries before bringing them into the house, limiting trips to the grocery store, changing clothes after going out in public, and more.
Janelle told Kody her reasons for wanting to leave during that conversation. I’ve had to give this a lot of consideration. She told the camera, “My children are almost grown, and there’s not a huge necessity anymore to stay.”

It was a great way to bring up a family. The tension between Kody and me is high right now. And as you well know, getting out of there is a breeze. While Janelle and Kody’s marriage is still having problems, she is still committed to polygamy, she explained in the three-part special that aired after Season 16. Is it possible that something has shifted since then?
Is Janelle Still With Kody? ‘Sister Wives’ Are Speculating
It is unknown if Janelle has told anyone that she is breaking up with Kody. It would appear that at least legally they are still very much married in spirit. Fans of Sister Wives will remember the October 2022 wedding of Kody and Janelle’s son Logan, and the unusual seating arrangement that was present.
Photographs from the wedding, including a group shot of the guests during the service, were posted to TikTok by user @daniellethescrealtor. Kody and Robyn and their daughters Aurora and Breanna can be spotted sitting in the second row on the left side of the aisle.
While @daniellethescrealtor pointed out that Janelle and Kody’s seating arrangement seemed strange because they are Logan’s parents, Janelle was seated on the right side (but in the front row) with other members of the Brown family.
After witnessing the positive effects that leaving Kody has had on Christine, an insider told Us Weekly at the end of January 2022 that Janelle is leaning toward a split. Despite Kody’s protests, “Janelle meant it when [she] said she would leave,” the source said. We can expect it to occur.

“She sees how happy Christine is now that she’s ‘free’ from Kody and is strongly considering separating from him herself,” they continued. Christine and Janelle are close friends and often discuss it.
Things Have Not Gone Well For Janelle And Kody in Season 17
There is still tension between Kody and Janelle, as seen in Season 17 of Sister Wives. They were (separately) talking about how, in an early episode of Season 17, Kody wanted Garrison and Gabriel to leave Janelle’s house due to their ongoing feud with their father over how he treats their mother.
For some reason, this has struck Janelle as extremely funny. In other words, “He’s made similar threats before. I told him, “Dude, you’re not even on the lease. My name is on the lease.
Later, Janelle elaborated on how Garrison and Gabe’s displeasure with Kody’s preoccupation with Robyn’s home has persisted for some time. They are extremely agitated. What I hear from them is that they have felt a real preference for some time now,” she explained.
And so this is the current situation with COVID, where he has taken up residence at her place because she is willing to play by his rules. As a result, they tend to be wary. Janelle then reassured the audience that everything was fine in her and Kody’s marriage.
When I say that my friendship with Kody is strong, I mean it. To paraphrase, “it’s struggling, but I know what I need from Kody, and I communicate that to him, and he does a pretty good job meeting that,” she said.
As it stands, what I have is sufficient, and it serves my needs. It seems unlikely that Robyn has a romantic connection with him, though.
Janelle Brown is Moving Her Retail Business Into a Rented Space
There were rumours in the press in March of 2022 that Janelle was renting a new property for $2000/month to open a retail shop. Her actions raised more speculation that she was preparing to leave Kody for good by becoming financially self-sufficient.
What Janelle decides about her future with Kody is apparently something fans will have to wait and see. In the event that Janelle follows Christine’s example and leaves Kody, we can expect an official announcement on social media from both of them.
