How Did Ahmaad Galloway, Former Alabama Running Back Die?

Former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Ahmaad Galloway was discovered dead in his residence Monday, according to WVTM 13. Galloway had reached the age of 42. Galloway was a teacher at Compton-Drew Middle School in St. Louis.

According to the school’s principal, Susan Reid, he was found because of a welfare check. The reason Galloway died is still being looked into. “Ahmaad was always on time, very responsible. So, we knew something might be wrong,” Reid said. “There wasn’t anything disrupted at Ahmaad’s apartment, so we are thinking that it could have been a medical issue.”

Galloway stood out during his time at Alabama. In his four years there, he ran for 1,830 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. In 2001, he had his best season. He ran for 881 yards on 174 carries and scored six touchdowns. At first, he was a backup for Shaun Alexander, who went on to become a star in the NFL.

Galloway was picked by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft, but he had to miss that season because of an injury. When he went back to playing football, it was in NFL Europe. Galloway played well for the Scottish Claymores, but Denver sent him to the San Diego Chargers in the end.
