The U.S. president was back at the Kennedy center honors in five years on Sunday for the first time. Joe Biden attended the show in the capitol after Donald trump skipped it throughout his term.
These awards are given to show gratitude to the people associated with the entertainment industry for their services. Of course, since the pandemic had affected everything in the world; how can it spare this ceremony? The 2020 Award ceremony could not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In May, the center held a series of smaller socially distanced events for last year’s honorees, which included folk singer Joan Baez and actor dick van dyke.

Legendary Canadian singer Joni Mitchell was seen as she made a rare public appearance on Sunday to receive one of the most respectable awards given to the entertainers. President Joe Biden, who also attended the Kennedy center honors, praised the attendees.
The previous incumbent, Donald Trump, skipped proceedings during his four-year term. Moreover, actress Bette Midler and Motown founder Barry Gordy were also recognized. Biden held his black-tie event praising the contributions of Berry Gordy. Gordy also discovered Smokey Robinson as a teenager, who performed a song he wrote for the music mogul.
Gordy felt like he was in a dream, and it’s indeed a beautiful dream, he expressed while giving an interview on the red carpet.
Lorne Michaels, well known for producing the Saturday night live show, also got a shout-out. This year’s honors also recognize Puerto Rican opera singer Justino Diaz and Canadian folk music star Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler.
Apart from the honors, the president, his wife, and Kamala Haris, Chief justice John Roberts, and speaker Nancy Pelosi were also there to attend the ceremony.

The ceremony saw singers including Nora Jones and Britney Howard perform some of Mitchell’s classic songs. After six years, Mitchell’s appeared on the screen as she suffered a brain aneurysm.

Mitchel has also received multiple Grammys, and she is pretty famous for her hits like “Both Sides, Now” and “Big yellow taxi.” In honor of Mitchell, Howard performed with the veteran singer-songwriters on both sides. Jones sang the circle game, with a case of you while Brandi Carlisle performed river.
What Was the Reaction Upon the Reunion of the Presidential Side With the Entertainment Industry?
The audience seems to be very happy at the presence of the presidential side, especially after the past president had not made a presence. Former President Trump did not attend the gala during his presidency after several recipients who had to participate in the gala threatened to boycott it in his first year of presidency.
If he was present, they would not attend the gala. It was pretty nice to see the presidential box being occupied once again, as comedian and past honoree David Letterman happily told the audience.
President Biden held a black-tie reception for the honorees at the white house and showed the utmost gratitude to all of the Kennedy Center honorees who were present there and also who attended the last sessions. He said that these people had rewarded the world with the gift by sharing their arts with us.
