Remnant 2 Release Date: All the Details You Need to Know!

“Dark Souls with guns” was the pitch for the first Remnant game when it came out in 2019, but with the upcoming release of Remnant 2, Gunfire Games is creating its own identity within this niche genre of games.

Remnant: From the Ashes wasn’t a Game of the Year contender, but it was a tonne of fun to play with other people. I hope that Gunfire Games improves on the first game by adding more environments and making the game play better overall.

Here’s everything we know about Remnant 2 so far, from its release date and story to how it plays and what trailers we’ve seen.

Remnant 2 Release Date

We found out about Remnant 2 by surprise at The Game Awards 2022, but we still don’t know when it will come out. But it’s not going to come out until sometime in 2023.

Remnant 2 will come out for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Remnant: From the Ashes, the original game, will come out for Nintendo Switch on March 21, 2023.

Remnant 2 Storyline

You must have a very good memory if you can remember what happened in the first game. I didn’t care, I just liked the “pew-pew” and “stab-stab” sounds. The internet says that Remnant: From the Ashes takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where an evil from another dimension called the Root has destroyed and taken over the planet. I do remember that at the end of the game, the players killed the Root’s source.

Remnant 2 is a clean slate, at least for me. The game’s description says that players must stop a bad thing from destroying reality. Intense. But it doesn’t look like the bad guy from the first game will be back. Remnant’s best feature was how it built its world. You could go to planets other than Earth, and there was a lot of lore about them.

Since Remnant 2 is about reality, it’s likely that we’ll be going from planet to planet again, which is exciting because Earth was the least interesting biome in the first game.

Remnant 2 Gameplay

Remnant 2 is a third-person shooter RPG that looks a lot like Souls, but we know a lot more about it than that. Large boss fights will give you the same experience with ranged and close combat. The gear system is back, but we don’t know yet how much has changed.

Co-op is also back, of course, and we’ll be able to go to “new worlds and beyond, overrun by mythical creatures,” according to the game’s description. There will be more procedurally generated dungeons and areas, which can be a good thing if they are done well. It sounds like there will be a variety of stories that are meant to make people want to visit more than once.

The Archetype system gives you both active and passive abilities, just like a class system. You can unlock new Archetypes as you play and combine them with other ones to change how you play.

Remnant 2 PC Requirements

Remnant 2 already has a page on Steam, but we don’t know what the official PC requirements are, so we can only use the first game as a guide. Remember that this game came out in 2019.

Remnant: From the Ashes required at least an Intel Core i3-7350K CPU (4.20 GHz) or better, 8GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon RX 470 GPU. The recommended specs include a 3.70 GHz or better Intel Core i5-4590 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 GPU.

Some of the best cheap gaming laptops have a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, which can crush those specs and should be enough to run at least the minimum specs on the new Remnant 2.

Outlook

I don’t think Remnant 2 will be anything special, but I hope it’s better than the first one and gives me another fun souls-like experience. I don’t have anything else. I’m just waiting to shoot and stab. Remnant 2 will come out sometime in 2023, so stay tuned for our full review and more news.

Remnant 2 Trailers

So far, there’s only one trailer, but it tells us a lot about the game, how it’s played, and how it looks. We might get another trailer in the week before the game comes out.
