Erivo replied to the post, saying, “Making magic with you has been wonderful.” Chu posted two enigmatic stills without giving away too many details. The first image showed Erivo’s Elphaba getting ready to take off on her broom as she glanced away from the camera while wearing a dark cloak and pointed cap.

According to IMDb, the cast will also include Jonathan Bailey from Bridgerton as Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle from The Greatest Showman, Aaron Teoh as Avaric, and Colin Michael Carmichael as Professor Nikidi.

Chu indicated that Faye Dunaway would also be joining the production when tagging the actors in the photo, but she hasn’t said what part she plays. The movie adaptation was first announced by Universal in 2016, and now it is finally in the production phase. On Christmas Day in 2024 and 2025, respectively, Wicked: Part One and Part Two are anticipated to be released on film.
